About AIBrief

Built for the people the tech industry keeps forgetting about.

There are 5.7 million small businesses in the United Kingdom. They employ 16 million people. They generate a third of all private sector turnover. They are, in every meaningful sense, the backbone of the British economy.

And yet when it comes to guidance on AI tools — the most significant shift in how businesses operate since the arrival of the internet — they are almost entirely underserved.

The content that exists is mostly American, written for American audiences, priced in dollars, shaped by American business culture, and utterly indifferent to the specific realities of running a small business in Britain. The GDPR obligations. The Making Tax Digital rollout. The way British customers communicate. The tools that genuinely work at a UK price point without a Silicon Valley budget behind them.

AIBrief was built to fix that.

The Problem We’re Solving

Nearly three-quarters of the UK’s smallest businesses — sole traders and micro-businesses — are still watching AI from the sidelines. Among sole traders specifically, 42% have no plans to adopt AI at all, and a further 31% are using it only in a very limited way. When you ask those business owners why, the answer is consistent. It is not scepticism about whether the tools work. It is a lack of knowledge, cited by 46% of small businesses as their primary barrier, followed by not understanding the benefits (32%) and concerns about security risks (31%). In other words: the tools exist. The value is real. The barrier is information — or rather, the absence of trustworthy, relevant, plain English information written specifically for them.

That is the gap AIBrief fills.

What AIBrief Is

AIBrief is an independent weekly resource for UK small business owners, sole traders and freelancers. We test, review and compare AI tools — honestly, thoroughly, and with the specific needs of a British business audience front of mind.

Every tool we recommend has been used by us in real working conditions. Every verdict we publish is our own. Every piece of content on this site is written to answer the question a busy UK business owner actually has, not the question a software company wishes they were asking.
